Yet another long driving day, 98 km covered in 14 hours! We are now at site I where we will spend 1.5 days for science.
Altitude: 3017m
Air temperature (23:50 local time): -35.3 degrees C
We want to travel in one day as much as possible so we can leave plenty of time for science stops. On such days, we don't stop and prepare hot meals. Instead, we rely on on-the-go-type food such as peanut butter and jelly sandwich, the American favourite, and brown cheese sandwich, the Norwegian classic. Those are packed at the breakfast and taken to vehicles along with snacks like chocolate and dried fruits.
We take full advantages of modern technology not only for the entertainment as mentioned yesterday, but for food as well. What proved to be very handy for dinner today was dehydrated food. All you need is some hot water, which is available all the time from snow-melters that use excess heat from the engines of the tracked vehicles. "Dehy-food" as we call it come in all sorts of varieties like "sweet'n sour chicken" and "Wolffish casserole with pasta, prawns and dill". And they are tasty!
