Thursday, It’s Chinook this time...

Our dogs are not happy, the same problem now happened to Chinook. We were forced to stop 8.7km short of the originally planned site 91.

Position: 76 deg 4 min S, 22 deg 28 min E, 3587 meters a.s.l.

Thanks to the professionalism and dedication of Kjetil and Einar who worked throughout the night, Lasse’s differential gear was replaced and we were on our way to Site 91 by 9:10am. But it happened again, this time to Chinook. Just as we passed the final 10km mark to Site 91, she coughed out some weird noises and stopped running. The diagnosis, again, was differential gear failure. As a result we were forced to stop and establish the camp around 4:00pm. We are just 8.7 km short of the originally planned location, but where we are now became the Site 91. Full scientific activities and mechanical work are planned for the next four days. Although we’ve been facing some difficulties along the way, everyone is in high spirits and the good science is much anticipated. Do check back every day as we update our progress!
