Last day at South Pole

by marte last modified 2008-10-03 11:18

We had a tour of the new and old station today. Also, we visited the impressive research facilities in the “dark sector.”

Position: 90 °S, 0 °E

Elevation: 2836 masl

Maximum and Minimum temperatures: -29 °C & -35 °C

We toured the facilities at the South Pole Station today and got an impression of the high-tech science that goes on here. Especially, the IceCube neutrino project fascinated us. In the evening we took group photos at the ceremonial and geographical South poles. Also, we made the last arrangements for flying to McMurdo tomorrow at noon.
