The Science Tent

by Zoe Courville — last modified 2008-12-14 20:23

Today Tom and I worked to sort all the equipment that had been left over the winter in the Science Tent. The Science Tent is a nice, little Weatherhaven tent that Lou and Glen had constructed last year on the back of one of the sleds.

Location: Camp Winter, 86.80S, 54,42 E
Elevation: 3131m
Weather: -40 degC, 13 kts.

It’s perfect for working on snow and core samples, out of the wind.
Right now though, it’s packed with all the things that were left here last year.  We started by taking everything out of the tent and sorting it into piles according to tasks, the drilling, the radar, the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, or the snow pit sampling.  Now we’re working on putting it all back in order so we can get to things we need to everyday.  Things are progressing nicely, and we’re looking forward to playing with all our toys (i.e. our science equipment).
