Group missed

Camp felt small and quiet today. Stein, Anna, Kirsty, Ted and Einar have been out on the first of many “side traverses” – 80 kilometre Radar and gravimetric survey.

Location:  Recovery Lake “D”, 84° 54’ S,  21° 16’ E
Weather: Cloudy, light snowfall, -16 C, wind 15 kts

SO just the 7 of us left in town – it was a busy day… catching up on water supply, 2 meter science pit with density, grain size and crystal photos, thermal conductivity and permeability on the snow pack, isotope samples taken to be studied in the lab - reconfiguring fuel barrels and ice core boxes on the sleds – breaking down the barrels for easier storage and getting the UAV ready for flight.  It is crazy here with how much can get accomplished in a day!!
Meal times were quieter… but something wasn’t right… we were missing part of our group!!

It was a stormy day  - visibility went from 200 meters to one kilometer intermittently throughout the day, and the atmospheric halo displays were spectacular!!  AND it was WAY TOO warm!  Minus 14 c. with very flat light – but so fun to see the colors in the sundogs!
